The Lovin' Spoonful was named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. The band's name was inspired by some lines in a song of Mississippi John Hurt called the "Coffee Blues." After a few lineup changes, Sebastian parted ways to start a solo singer-songwriter career, breaking up the band in 1968. He had a hit in 1976 with "Welcome Back," the theme song for the television sitcom Welcome Back |
