Jimi Hendrix
November 27, 1942 - September 18, 1970
Without question, Jimi Hendrix was one of the most innovative, creative, determined guitarists of our time. While making a
name for himself in music's history books, he blazed the way for other young guitarists to form their own sound while at the
same time reaping the benefits from Hendrix's expertise.  Hendrix commanded everyone's attention while he played his guitar
behind his back and over his head. His guitar wanderings incited a degree of spiritual hysteria, especially for the musician
himself. He'd finger his guitar and then set it on fire, praying to the guitar gods who blessed him with his unbelievable craft.

Nearly thirty-four years have passed since Hendrix's death, but interest in the guitarist remains strong. Last fall he was rated
#1 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

A Treasured Possession
A rare find from one of the greatest and most
influential guitarists in rock music history.  In
Jimi's short lifetime & even shorter music
career, there is so little of Hendrix
Memorabilia (you may have viewed some of
Hendrix's musical history at the EMP or
RRHOF), but it's not the same as owning your
very own piece of Hendrix memorabilia.

Hendrix was well-known for his unique sense
of fashion & psychedelic scarfs. This
beautiful & awesome scarf (with vivid colors)
made an appearance in 1990 and was then
safely put away for the last 17 years.   I had
thought of cutting this up into pieces to share
with other Hendrix fans, but my hands shake
at just the thought (not even the potential
multiple sales could sway me to take
scissors to it).   So, it is being offered in the
same "untouched" condition as it was when
Jimi wore it (sweat stains still remain) - It's
65" long & is described by Sotheby's as "silk"
(although I do not think it is 100% pure silk).
The colors are still bright and eye-catching.

The Original Sotheby's Catalog is in excellent
shape and Lot 278 reads: "Jimi Hendrix
Psychedelic Scarf,
circa 1968, the silk scarf
with abstract designs in black, yellow, lime
green, ocean blue and fuchsia, worn as a
scarf or cravat.
65 in.  Jimi Hendrix wore this
scarf on-stage during various live
performances."

The estimated price was $1,000 - $1,500  (a
complete set of the Beatles Autographs were
estimated at $1,400 - $1,600) As you can see
from the receipt, it sold for more than
expected in 1990 and values continue to rise
for both the Beatles & Jimi Hendrix.

The Original Sotheby's Receipt states "Jimi
Hendrix Psychedelic Scarf"  and Stamped
Paid on December 19, 1990

All documentation & catalog is included
